MEPC Announces New Board Members

The Middle East Policy Council is excited to announce the addition of several new members to the Board of Directors: Mr. Charles Carithers, Ms. Gabrielle Gueye, Dr. Jamal Nusseibeh, and Mr. Andrew Steinfeld.


Charles Carithers is a Principal at Cornerstone Government Affairs, a bipartisan multi-client lobbying firm headquartered in Washington, D.C., with experience in the U.S. House with the Committee on Homeland Security and Senate with the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, as well as the U.S. intelligence community. He is a graduate of Morehouse College, the Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, and an adjunct professor at Georgetown University.

Gabrielle Gueye is a Manager of Operations with the USG Regulatory Operations team at DAI. She previously worked at Women of Color Advancing Peace and Security, Catholic Relief Services, the Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, and is an inaugural cohort member of the Colin Powell Leadership Institute. She completed her Bachelor’s degree at Kent State University and her Master’s degree at Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University.

Jamal Nusseibeh is a Palestinian-American-British scholar, lawyer, and investor. He is the founder and CEO of Ramla Capital, an investment firm focused on positive social impact and the energy transition, and in addition to his position on the board of MEPC, he is affiliated with the Wilson Center’s Middle East Program. He received his undergraduate and MA degrees at Sciences Po in Paris as a French Government Scholar, his law degree from City University London, and an LL.M. (Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar) and PhD (JSD) from Columbia University in New York. 

Andrew Steinfeld is a retired U.S. Foreign Service Officer, who served for 36 years in the broader Middle East and Islamic world: Kuwait, Tel Aviv, Islamabad, Kabul, and Khartoum; as well as in Paris and Vienna. His last assignment was Foreign Policy Advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (Generals Dempsey and Dunford). Before that, he served as Deputy NATO Senior Civilian Representative at ISAF Headquarters in Kabul. He graduated from Amherst College, and has Master‘s degrees from The Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Affairs, and the Naval War College.
