On Thursday July 29th we hosted our 3rd Contributor Dialogue. MEPC Executive Director Bassima Alghussein spoke with Bram Wispelwey, Rania Muhareb, Mads Gilbert and David Mills.
Their essay "Permission to Narrate a Pandemic in Palestine" is a must-read for policy makers and U.S. citizens who value the first amendment and human rights for the Palestinians. The essay highlights the systematic censorship of information, data and academic research in Palestine, and how this has tangible negative impacts for public health and the overall well-being of Palestinians. You can access their full essay here.
A core pillar of our mission at MEPC is to highlight under-represented perspectives on the Middle East to empower American policymakers with a more complete picture of the economic, political and social issues facing the region. In addition to this essay, the Lancet's Palestinian Health Alliance and British Medical Journal offer further insight and resources on this topic.
