The Center for Applied Policy Research (CAP) at Ludwig-Maximilians University Munich and the Middle East and International Affairs Research Group (MEIA Research) welcome applications for the 2014 Munich-Vienna Middle East Summer School.
During the 2014 Munich-Vienna Middle East Summer School, students will be provided with a broad understanding of the key political, economic, and societal developments in the contemporary Middle East. In the seminars, students will be taught by academics and practitioners with long-standing experience in the Middle East and given the opportunity to engage in a dialogue with students from the region in focus. In addition to the academic part, the Summer School also includes visits to institutions such as the Representation of the European Commission, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). The Summer School also offers a rich cultural program.
The program targets both advanced Bachelor (at least one year of college/university education) and Master students. Applicants should have a general interest in foreign policy, economics, and societal developments and be willing to participate in an interdisciplinary and intercultural learning process. In-depth knowledge of Middle Eastern affairs is not required.
Lectures, presentations, and examinations will be held in English.
Knowledge of German is not required.
